Roman Society Centenary

The Roman Society will be celebrating its centenary in 2010.

In addition to the usual programme of London meetings and AGM, which this year will be followed by a number of lectures and reception, there will be several conferences, special lecture series, and a celebratory event to be held at the British Museum on June 3rd to mark the 100th anniversary of the first meeting of the Society.

The Society is also delighted to be associated with many of the events to mark the AD410 anniversary, including the conference AD410 Debating the End, hosted at the British Museum in March (13-14).

This will be followed shortly by the Roman Archaeology Conference, held at the University of Oxford (March 25-28).

In July (17-24) there will be a trip to a Rome, with accommodation organised at the British School. Go to the Trip to Rome page for a full itinerary and a downloadable booking form.

Finally, the Society is launching a fund raising appeal to raise money to set up a new website for school pupils studying Latin and Roman civilsation. Go to the Centenary Fund Raising Appeal page for more details.
